UF/IFAS Spring 2020 Panhandle Adult Mosquito ID Short Course (Cancelled due to COVID-19)


To help provide mosquito identification training throughout the state of Florida, UF/IFAS FMEL is providing an Adult Mosquito ID Short Course for the Panhandle Region at South Walton County Mosquito Control District in Santa Rosa Beach, FL this spring.


This introductory course covers basic training in use of a stereomicroscope, an introduction to adult mosquito morphology, and identification of mosquitoes of Florida to the genus level. Additionally, species-level identification of select nuisance and vector mosquitoes will be covered. Microscopes, specimens, handouts and identification materials will be provided. Public Health CEUs will be offered (pending FDACS approval).

Registration Fee: $200

To register for the UF/IFAS FMEL Panhandle Adult Mosquito ID Short Course, download and complete the Registration Document (MS Word). Send completed registration form and fee to Dr. Eva Buckner by April 15, 2020. Registration after April 15, 2020 will not be allowed. If less than 10 people are registered for the course by April 15, 2020, instructors will decide to postpone or cancel the course. If the course is postponed or cancelled, registration fees will be returned.

Lodging and food not included in registration fee

Checks or money orders, made payable to “University of Florida”, can be mailed to Dr. Eva Buckner, UF/IFAS FMEL, 200 9th St. SE, Vero Beach, FL 32962. Credit card payments will be made through EventBrite. We CANNOT accept cash.


We enforce a registration fee cancellation policy. Last-minute cancellations do not leave time for filling empty seats. Additionally, we purchase supplies based on reservations for the course.

Cancellations must be provided in writing to The amount of refund will be based on the date the written cancellation is received and will be issued as follows:

Cancel on or before April 15, 100% ($200.00)

Cancel between April 16 and April 30, 75% ($150.00)

Cancel after April 30th, No refund
