Encephalitis Biology & Epidemiology
Field studies on the population dynamics of mosquito vectors and avian amplification hosts are being conducted by members of the research team. Wild avian serosurveys designed to monitor the transmission of St. Louis and eastern equine encephalitis virus are conducted at the FMEL throughout the year. Vector populations are also monitored throughout the year to determine their average age, gonotrophic condition and nutritional status.
